Riley + Josalyn | Proposal at RoozenGaarde Tulip Fields, Mt. Vernon, Washington

This was going to be a fun, first-time at the tulip fields in Mt. Vernon on a Thursday afternoon. At least that’s what Josalyn thought it was. Little did she know, her boyfriend Riley had reached out to me weeks earlier to schedule a surprise proposal session.

I’ve known Riley and Josalyn for years and was beyond excited when Riley told me he was planning to propose to Josalyn! The plan was that she would think they were taking couples portraits at the RoozenGaarde tulip field. I photographed the two of them when they graduated college and they know I love taking portraits, so this wouldn't seem out of the norm to Josalyn. I was nervous that she’d eventually suspect something was up, but she truly had no idea which made the proposal that much better! We started the session with a few basic portraits and then when I gave my cue, Riley got down on one knee and asked Josalyn if she would marry him, and she said yes!

It’s such an honor to capture moments like these and I’m so grateful that Riley trusted me to photograph his proposal to Josalyn. They are such a wonderful couple and I’m really excited for them to start this next chapter of their lives together.

Congratulations, Riley and Josalyn! I’m so happy for you two!

Hugs,
Monica
