Cherry Blossom Family Session at Washington Park Arboretum

A springtime Seattle session among the cherry blossoms

A stunning portrait location with a fun family is always a good time, but it’s even more special when the client is a friend! I worked with Jennifer several years ago at my first corporate job. You know that coworker that you’re always happy to see? That’s Jen. She’s truly such a light! I honestly can’t remember a day in the office that I didn’t see her smiling. She’s incredibly kind, bubbly and supportive, and although it had been years since I’d last seen her, we picked back up as if only days had passed. Jen’s been following my photography business since the very beginning, and I was so excited when she reached out for a family session! It had been a while since her family had pictures taken together, so I felt extra honored to be their photographer!

Jen was looking for a classic PNW portrait location or a place with cherry blossoms, so we went with the beautiful Washington Park Arboretum in Seattle. Cherry blossom season is typically between mid-March and early April, and we caught them at a great time! At the heart of the arboretum is Azalea Way — the iconic walkway for those looking for cherry blossoms upon cherry blossoms. Of course, with a limited seasonal window for blooms, it means nearly anywhere with cherry trees is a popular spot. To say the park was busy would be an understatement, but if you’re up for working around crowds, it’s a beautiful springtime setting for pictures. Enjoy some of my favorites from the session!
